Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr. today announced the indictment of RAYNA RAMPAUL (formerly known as RAYNA MADHO), 42, a former NYPD sergeant, for allegedly stealing approximately $132,366.85 in standard and overtime pay between September 2022 and November 2024. RAMPAUL is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with one count of Grand Larceny in the Second Degree and four counts of Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree. [1]
“As alleged, Rayna Rampaul stole approximately $132,000 in pay from the NYPD while she worked as a sergeant, a leadership position,” said District Attorney Bragg. “City employees who fraudulently drain the City’s coffers will be held accountable.”
As alleged in court documents and statements made on the record, between September 30, 2022, to November 21, 2024, while working as a supervising sergeant in the Photographic Unit at One Police Plaza, RAMPAUL claimed to have worked approximately 1,680 hours in her standard tours and overtime tours that she did not actually work. She submitted payroll records, including overtime slips, with falsely reported hours. RAMPAUL fraudulently received at least $132,366.85 in pay that she did not earn.
Assistant D.A. Stephen MacArthur (Financial Frauds Bureau) is handling the prosecution of this case under the supervision of Assistant D.A.s Kofi Sansculotte (Chief of the Financial Frauds Bureau), Judy Salwen (Deputy Chief of the Investigation Division) and Executive Assistant D.A.
