Manhattan District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau announced today that an indictment has been voted charging DAVID TARLOFF with the murder of Kathryn Faughey and the attempted murder of Kent Shinbach. The charges voted are: Murder in the First Degree, Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree and Attempted Robbery in the First Degree. The charges stem from attacks which occurred on February 12, 2008 in offices at 435 East 79th Street. The defendant, who is remanded, will be arraigned on the indictment in March. Murder in the First Degree is punishable by a maximum of life in prison; Murder in the Second Degree is punishable by 25 years to life in prison. Assistant District Attorneys Evan Krutoy and Daniel Boylan presented the case to the grand jury and will be in charge of the prosecution. DAVID TARLOFF, 3/12/68, 99-45 60th Avenue, Queens, New York.
