Manhattan District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau announced today that a Queens man was indicted for impersonating a police officer, as well as sexually assaulting and robbing a woman inside her apartment in Chelsea. The attack occurred on March 1, 2008 in a building on West 23rd Street. While inside the victim’s apartment, HENDRICK AJAMISEBA, 32, falsely stated that he was a “cop.” He then robbed the victim at knifepoint and sexually assaulted her. AJAMISEBA’s fingerprints were recovered from the crime scene location. AJAMISEBA has been charged with two counts of Burglary in the First Degree, Robbery in the First Degree, Rape in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the First Degree, and two counts of Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree all B felonies, which are punishable by up to 25 years in prison. The defendant has also been charged with Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a D felony, which is punishable by up to seven years in prison. AJAMISEBA was also charged with Criminal Impersonation in the First Degree is an E felony, which is punishable by up to four years in prison. The defendant will be arraigned tomorrow in New York State Supreme Court, Part 1. ###
