D.A. Bragg Announces Indictment In Unprovoked Assault Of 94-Old-Man In Apple Store

September 3, 2025

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr. today announced the indictment of LEWIS REYNOLDS, 31, for allegedly assaulting a 94-year-old man without provocation in an Apple Store on the Upper East Side on August 5, 2025. REYNOLDS is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with one count each of Assault in the Second Degree and Assault in the Third Degree. [1]

“As alleged, Lewis Reynolds attacked a 94-year-old man without provocation as he simply shopped in an Apple Store. No older adult should face a terrifying act of violence like this in New York City,” said District Attorney Bragg. “I want New Yorkers to know that we are working with our law enforcement partners to keep Manhattan safe. I hope the victim continues to heal from this horrifying assault.”

As alleged in court documents and statements made on the record, REYNOLDS approached a 94-year-old man in an Upper East Side Apple Store on August 5, 2025, at approximately 5:52 p.m. He allegedly punched the man in the face without provocation, causing him to fall backwards and hit his head. The victim had bruising to his face and head and lower back pain from the assault. REYNOLDS fled the scene and was arrested on August 8, 2025.

Assistant D.A. Audrey Cunningham (Trial Bureau 70) is handling the prosecution of this case under the supervision of Assistant D.A.s David Hammer (Chief of Trial Bureau 70), Jeanine Launay (Chief of the Elder Abuse Unit), and Executive Assistant D.A. Lisa DelPizzo (Chief of the Trial Division).

D.A. Bragg thanked the NYPD, particularly Detective Yanvier Morel of the 19th Precinct Detective Squad.
