A Manhattan man who claimed he was the owner of the iconic New Yorker Hotel was indicted by Manhattan prosecutors Wednesday — because he never actually owned the building.

“As alleged, Mickey Barreto repeatedly and fraudulently claimed ownership of one of the City’s most iconic landmarks, the New Yorker Hotel,” said District Attorney Bragg. “We will not tolerate manipulation of our city’s property records by those who seek to scam the system for personal gain.”

HFZ executives indicted in alleged $86 million fraud scheme

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Wednesday for an attack spree in the East Village last January that injured three men, including the beloved 91-year-old owner of Ray’s Candy Store.
