Manhattan D.A.-funded Neighborhood Navigators begin hitting the streets as alternative to city mental health plan 
Outreach workers tasked with building personal relationships with unhoused New Yorkers took their first steps last Thursday, Feb. 1. The program, Neighborhood Navigators, stems from a $6 million investment from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office to behavioral health service provider the Bridge.

Man sentenced to 10 years for brutal beating of famed East Village candy shop owner 
The man convicted in the vicious attack of a 91-year-old Manhattan candy store legend, which left the victim bleeding on the ground outside his East Village shop, was sentenced to a decade behind bars, prosecutors announced.

“Luis Peroza has been held accountable for viciously assaulting three individuals in just one day,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Among those attacked was the beloved owner of Ray’s Candy Store, who despite the attack, has shown great courage and resilience by returning to work and continuing to spread joy – as he has for decades. I hope that this sentencing can bring a sense of justice and relief for each of the victims.”
D.A. Bragg: HFZ Capital, Managing Principal, Other Executives Indicted For Frauds Totaling $86 Million 
“These indictments depict allegations of widespread fraud within the real estate industry primarily spearheaded by one man: Nir Meir,” said District Attorney Bragg. “In total, we allege these defendants’ conspiracies netted them a total of $86 million stolen from investors, contractors, and the City of New York. My Office’s Rackets Bureau is laser-focused on fraud in the construction and real estate industries and will continue to root out people who steal from investors and corrupt the market.”
