A 26-year-old man has been indicted for allegedly carrying out an anti-gay attack on the 125th Street subway station in late 2023, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced on May 21.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg secured an indictment of a 26-year-old man on hate crime charges. The prosecution is moving forward after a years-long gap between Tavaughn Thompson, a Bronx resident, allegedly beating a man while hurling anti-gay slurs at a Harlem subway station, and his arrest earlier this year.

Tavaughn Thompson, 26, faces two counts of third-degree assault as a hate crime and one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree in connection with the Dec. 29, 2023, attack at the 125th Street subway station in West Harlem, prosecutors said.

Jason Sargeant, 29, received the promised sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to first-degree assault on April 16, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
