In just hours - and for a few hundred dollars, you could make a real gun in your house that is untraceable - and nearly 100 percent polymer. It can all be made on a 3D printer -- including extended magazines that can hold 30-50 bullets.

New York will try to make it a crime to print a gun at home. Lawmakers are responding to a surge in gun crimes committed with untraceable firearms, known as ghost guns, increasingly being created using a 3D printer.

"Technology has made it possible for anyone with a few hundred dollars to create dangerous weapons and firearms in the comfort of their own home. The ease at which people can create guns and gun parts poses a direct threat to the safety of our communities, which is why we are taking action to close these loopholes and strengthen the penalties on the books,” said District Attorney Bragg.
