A massive bust took down a New York City-based dark web drug ring that laundered $7.2 million by cryptocurrency and shipped more than 10,000 narcotics-filled packages across the nation, prosecutors said.

One of the largest-ever dark web drug-peddling operations — raking in $7.2 million through cryptocurrency exchanges — has been shut down, and its Queens ringleader and four others charged, Manhattan prosecutors said.

“This alleged scheme was a brazen attempt to use the dark web to conceal a national drug trafficking operation. Even though this activity originated on the dark web, it can still lead to the same dangerous drug-related violence in our neighborhoods that we see far too often,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Technology is evolving but so is our office and I am grateful to the talented prosecutors, investigators and analysts who are diligently working on and bringing their leading expertise to this complex case. No matter where illegal drug trafficking and selling originates, we will use every tool at our disposal to dismantle these operations and keep our streets safe.”

Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg Announces New Worker Protection Unit 
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on Thursday unveiled a new Worker Protection Unit to combat wage theft and unsafe working conditions. The unit will be led by Assistant DA and Senior Investigative Counsel Rachana Pathak. Pathak, who currently serves as Supervising Attorney of the Construction Fraud Task Force, will continue in that role as well.
Manhattan workers stiffed by employers given new legal route to recoup stolen wages 
New York City workers stiffed by their employers will now have a way to recover stolen wages from a new fund announced on Thursday. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg revealed a new pilot program to pay people who weren’t compensated by their bosses or whose employers went bankrupt and couldn’t pay them.
