“Monetary control, including predatory cycles of debt, is a common element of coercion used by sex traffickers,” said District Attorney Bragg. “As alleged, this wide-ranging operation recruited women who were seeking to come to the United States from Venezuela and demanded repayment through prostitution. Many of the women were trafficked when the ringleaders allegedly used coercion, including threats of violence, to force them to continue. Together with our partners in the NYPD/HSI Task Force, we are putting a stop to this predatory cycle and horrific abuse.”

“Kimond Cyrus was sentenced to a significant state prison term for the horrifying shooting of Sueng Chul Choi as he was working his late-night shift.” said District Attorney Bragg. “Cyrus engaged in escalating turned-deadly gun violence – committing a gunpoint robbery before brazenly ending Mr. Choi’s life. Mr. Choi was a father and a hardworking person, and although we cannot bring him back, I hope that his family and loved ones can take solace knowing this defendant has been brought to justice.”

“Salem Seleiman took part in the repugnant and bias-motivated assault of a Jewish man who was peacefully attending a rally,” said District Attorney Bragg. “The victim was targeted based on his religion and did nothing to warrant physical violence. In recent years, we have seen increased threats and violence against Jewish New Yorkers, and we want the community to know that our Hate Crimes Unit takes these matters extremely seriously. “A jury convicted Lenue Moore on all counts for the deplorable execution style murders of his neighbor Jacqueline Billini and her friend Levaughn Harvin, and the death of Ms. Billini’s dog, Zeus. This extreme violence came after Ms. Bellini reported Moore for breaking into her home where he injured her and others in a burglary that he also now stands convicted of committing. I commend the bravery of Ms. Billini’s and Mr. Harvin’s family members for coming forward to testify at trial to recount the horrific experiences they endured.
