Statement From Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on the Sentencing of Jerona Smith Click For More

“Older New Yorkers trusted Jerona Smith to deliver quality care as a home health aide. D.A. Bragg Announces Sentencing In Fatal Fourth Of July Drunk Driving Crash Click For More

“Daniel Hyden has been sentenced to 24 years-to-life in state prison for murdering four New Yorkers and severely injuring seven others as they were enjoying an annual Fourth of July barbecue. Ana Morel, Lucile Pinkney, Herman Pinkney and Emily Ruiz went to the celebration not knowing that Daniel Hyden would end their lives that day with his pickup truck,” said District Attorney Bragg. “While this prison sentence will not reverse the fatalities, injuries, and trauma, I hope this sentencing brings a measure of comfort for those who were impacted by this mass casualty event. If you are intoxicated, do not get behind the wheel – it risks the lives of others, and you will be prosecuted.”

D.A. Bragg, Senator Myrie Announce New Bill To Combat Use Of Cryptocurrency To Commit Crimes Click For More

District Attorney Bragg said: “The shadow financial system created by the explosion of cryptocurrency has created an ideal vehicle for money laundering and other crimes in New York State. Crypto is the go-to means for bad actors to move and hide the proceeds of crime. It is long past time for businesses that operate without a virtual currency license and flout due diligence requirements to face criminal penalties. I thank Senator Myrie for his leadership on this issue and urge the legislature to take action this session.”
