Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr. today announced the indictment of OLUWANIFEMI ABORISADE, 26, a home health aide, for assaulting a 95-year-old woman in her care in July 2024. ABORISADE is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with two counts of Assault in the Second Degree and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Vulnerable Elderly Person in the Second Degree. [1] ABORISADE was arraigned in Supreme Court on October 9, 2024.
“As alleged, Oluwanifemi Aborisade assaulted a vulnerable, 95-year-old woman who depended on her for care,” said District Attorney Bragg. “I hope the victim continues to heal from this horrific assault. If you are above the age of 60 and have been the victim of a crime, or you know an older adult who has been abused or exploited, please call our Elder Abuse Unit at 212-335-9007 or email EAU@dany.nyc.gov.”
According to court documents and statements made on the record in court, on July 20, 2024, ABORISADE was assigned to the 24-hour care of a 95-year-old woman in an apartment building in Harlem.
On July 21, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., ABORISADE and the 95-year-old woman got into an argument about changing her sheets. The 95-year-old woman called one of her granddaughters on the phone while ABORISADE called another granddaughter, each sharing conflicting stories.
After ABORISADE hung up, she screamed at the 95-year-old woman, calling her “rude, nasty,” along with other insults.
ABORISADE started throwing various items at the 95-year-old woman and punched her multiple times, causing her to fall and shout in pain. ABORISADE also went to the kitchen, grabbed a pot, and hit the 95-year-old woman’s hand with it. Additionally, ABORISADE threw water all over her floor and threw garbage everywhere before fleeing the scene.
