Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr. today announced the indictment of CHAD IRISH, 55, for fatally shooting Yazmeen Williams, 31, and concealing her body on the street in a sleeping bag in July 2024. IRISH is charged in a New York State Supreme Court Indictment with one count of Murder in the Second Degree, one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, three counts of Concealment of a Human Corpse and one count of Tampering with Physical Evidence [1].
“As alleged, Chad Irish cut the life of Yazmeen Williams short in this unspeakable tragedy, compounding the crime by so callously disposing of her body. Ms. Williams had her whole life ahead of her and was looking forward to starting a new chapter with a job at the New York City Housing and Preservation and Development that week,” said District Attorney Bragg. “I send my deepest condolences to her loved ones as they continue to mourn her loss.”
According to court documents and statements made on the record in court, IRISH and Yazmeen Williams were living together on East 28th Street since November 2023. In the days leading up to the alleged shooting, they had been arguing over text.
On June 26, 2024, at approximately 8:51 p.m., IRISH allegedly told Ms. Williams that he was going to shoot her while they were arguing in the hallway.
A few days later, IRISH used a gun to fatally shoot Ms. Williams in the head.
On July 5, 2024, IRISH left his apartment in a wheelchair while pulling Ms. Williams’ body in a sleeping bag on a black plastic dolly and left it on East 27th Street.
