D.A. Bragg Announces Indictment Of Raad Almansoori For Murder Of Denisse Oleas-Arancibia

April 5, 2024

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the indictment of RAAD ALMANSOORI, 26, for murdering Denisse Oleas-Arancibia during the course of a robbery on February 7, 2024. ALMANSOORI is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with one count of Murder in the First Degree, one count of Murder in the Second Degree, and two counts of Robbery in the Second Degree. “With this indictment, we are one step closer to securing justice for Denisse Oleas-Arancibia,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Our professional, dedicated prosecutors and investigators will continue to build the strongest possible case, and we will be prepared to prosecute Raad Almansoori for these horrific allegations when he is returned to New York. My heart is with the family and loved ones of Ms. Oleas-Arancibia during this difficult time as they continue to mourn their loss, as well as the victims of Almansoori’s alleged crimes in Maricopa County.”

Extradition from Arizona

With the unsealing of this indictment, the D.A.’s Office will finalize the materials necessary to formally request that New York Governor Kathy Hochul requisition a Governor’s warrant for ALMANSOORI from the Governor of Arizona. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has repeatedly indicated its desire to proceed first with the Arizona cases. Based on the Office’s analysis of New York and Arizona state law, and a thorough review of the facts and evidence available to us in both jurisdictions, we expect the warrant will act as a detainer, and ALMANSOORI will remain in custody until he returns to New York for prosecution on the murder indictment after the Arizona case concludes, regardless of the outcome in that case.

Assistant D.A.s Christine Keenan and Molly Ragowski are handling the prosecution of the case under the supervision of Assistant D.A. Robert Ferrari (Chief of Trial Bureau 40) and Executive Assistant D.A. Lisa DelPizzo (Chief of the Trial Division).

D.A. Bragg thanked NYPD Detectives Scott Williams from the Manhattan South Homicide Squad and David Okonek from the 1st Precinct for their work on the investigation. He also thanked the Surprise Police Department’s Sergeant Jeremy Goebel and Detective Steven Lopez, and Scottsdale Police Department’s Sergeant Brian Campos and Police Officer Alejandro Barron.
