Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the indictment of REMINGTON YHAP, 47, for allegedly raping a teenage patient during a therapy session after engaging in a several-months-long course of sexual misconduct, including sending explicit photos and videos to the teen patient. YHAP is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with four counts of Rape in the Third Degree, five counts of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree, and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.[1]
“It is illegal for a therapist to engage in any sexual contact with a patient. Therapists are tasked with helping navigate difficult emotions and experiences, which can leave a patient – particularly a child – extremely vulnerable,” said District Attorney Bragg. “As alleged, Remington Yhap exploited the trust placed in him as a therapist to groom and ultimately rape a teenager. According to court records and statements made on the record in court, YHAP was employed at Liberation Psychotherapy, where he specialized in LGBTQ+ mental health. The teenager – a transgender boy – began attending therapy sessions with YHAP in September 2025, both remotely and in person. Over the course of the next several months, YHAP engaged in a course of sexual misconduct with the teen, including sending him explicit photos and videos, exposing his penis to the teenager during a remote session, and requesting the teen send him explicit photos. In June 2026, YHAP raped the teenager during an in-person session. The teen reported to police the following month.

Vanessa Puzio (Chief of the Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Bureau), Assistant D.A. Jonathan Carfagno (Deputy Bureau Chief of the Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Bureau), and Executive Assistant D.A. Justin McNabney (Chief of the Special Victims Division). Investigative Analyst Stella Smith Weiner is providing valuable assistance in the investigation.
