Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the indictment of BRITTNEY BULLOCK, 33, for kicking a 69-year-old man’s head and punching an 89-year-old woman in unprovoked attacks in Greenwich Village in July 2024. BULLOCK is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with two counts of Assault in the Second Degree. [1]
“As alleged, Brittney Bullock attacked two elderly victims in violent, unprovoked assaults that occurred within minutes of each other,” said District Attorney Bragg. “In Manhattan, we will continue to take acts of violence against elderly New Yorkers very seriously and hold those accountable who commit these crimes. If you or someone you know is 60 years or older and you believe you are the victim of a crime, please call our Elder Abuse Unit at 212-335-9007.”
According to court documents and statements made on the record in court, on July 10, 2024, at approximately 8:50 a.m., the 69-year-old man was laying on the ground, sleeping, by a bench near West 11th Street and 7th Avenue. As BULLOCK walked by the man, she approached and, unprovoked, kicked him in the back of the head, causing bleeding, a laceration and pain. BULLOCK continued walking southbound on 7th Avenue.
A few minutes later, BULLOCK approached an 89-year-old woman, who was waiting to cross over on Greenwich Avenue, and, unprovoked, punched her in the left eye, causing swelling, bruising, pain and a popped blood vessel. Both victims were transported to Lenox Hill Hospital.
BULLOCK fled the scene. She was eventually arrested inside her apartment building on August 9, 2024.
Assistant D.A. Samantha McCarthy is handling the prosecution of this case, under the supervision of Assistant D.A. Siobhan Carty (Chief of Trial Bureau 80) and Executive D.A. Lisa DelPizzo (Chief of the Trial Division). Jeanie Launay (Chief of the Elder Abuse Unit) is providing valuable assistance.
