Luis Rosado is the 6th Defendant To Be Sentenced For This Criminal Conduct
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the sentencing of LUIS ROSADO, 32, to 18 years in state prison for working with other associates of the “Own Every Dollar” (“O.E.D.”) criminal enterprise to commit a string of gunpoint robberies in Upper Manhattan from March 2021 until October 2022. ROSADO, along with other associates, used social media to scout and target victims wearing expensive jewelry and other accessories. ROSADO is the sixth defendant to be sentenced for this conduct. He was convicted at trial of Robbery in the First Degree, Robbery in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, among other charges.
RANDY LAVANDIER and GILSON GARCIA previously pleaded guilty to Robbery in the First Degree and Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree. CHARMON KENNEDY, ALEXIS DELACRUZ, ANGEL CORPORAN and all previously pleaded guilty to Robbery in the Second Degree and Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree. LAVANDIER was sentenced to seven years in state prison; GARCIA was sentenced to 12 years; KENNEDY was sentenced to 3 ½ years in state prison; DELACRUZ was sentenced to six years; and CORPORAN was sentenced to eight years.
“Luis Rosado will serve a significant prison term for coordinating and executing several violent gunpoint robberies across Manhattan with the support of O.E.D. associates,” said District Attorney Bragg. “We are proud to work closely with the NYPD and other members of law enforcement to hold violent organized groups accountable for terrorizing our city’s streets and using dangerous firearms to harm Manhattanites.”
According to court documents made on the record in court, the defendants’ guilty pleas and as proven at ROSADO’s trial, the defendants collectively orchestrated six different robberies in Upper Manhattan and used social media to scout and target victims wearing expensive jewelry and other accessories.
In a typical scheme, two individuals exited a getaway vehicle driven by a third person before accosting their victims at gunpoint, often pistol-whipping and threatening to kill victims to force them to comply. They arranged to purchase weapons over text message and sent photographs of the firearms to each other.
After ROSADO posted on social media a picture with his finger on the trigger of a gun, an associate texted him, “Stop putting your finger on the trigger…u look like a rookie playing with it stupid.”
In another instance, ROSADO sent a picture of a pistol and two magazines with an emoji of a laughing smiley face.
In the days leading up to one of the robberies, GARCIA purchased a semi-automatic pistol and texted an associate with details about their target, who GARCIA described as “easy.” On the day of the robbery, GARCIA and other co-conspirators drove a BMW sedan and followed their target to an apartment building in Inwood. GARCIA pistol-whipped the victim inside the lobby, and stole his gold necklace, bracelet and rings. Co-conspirators later sold the jewelry to a pawn shop.
In May 2021, GARCIA and KENNEDY were notified by an associate that their target was “inside the barbershop” and wearing a black shirt. As the victim exited the barbershop in Washington Heights, GARCIA and KENNEDY approached the victim with pistols drawn. They pistol-whipped the victim – lacerating his forehead – and threatened to shoot him, before stealing a chain necklace, ring, and cell phone.
After working together to locate a victim in Washington Heights, CORPORAN, LAVANDIER and an associate chased down the individual on the street, pistol-whipping and knocking him to the ground as they stole his watch.
In February 2022, LAVANDIER and another conspirator approached two targets with guns drawn at a barbershop in Washington Heights, stating “give us everything and everybody goes home alive.”
Assistant D.A. Jean Prisco handled the prosecution of these cases, under the supervision of Assistant D.A. Pierre Griffith (Chief of the Violent Criminal Enterprises Unit) and Christopher Prevost (Deputy Chief of the Trial Division). District Attorney Bragg thanked the detectives and supervisors of the NYPD’s Pattern 66 Task Force, especially Detective Joseph Gallagher, Detective Alvin Hunt, Detective George DeCamp and Inspector Nicholas Fiore.
D.A. Bragg also thanked Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark for the assistance provided by prosecutors in her Violent Criminal Enterprises Bureau. Finally, D.A. Bragg thanked the Southern District of New York for their collaboration and assistance.
