Survivor Services Bureau

Centering survivors means centering the dedicated professionals who provide services and supports in every area of our work. In 2024, D.A. Bragg expanded the services our Office provides to crime survivors through the creation of the Survivors Services Bureau (“SSB”). SSB is an evolution of our Office’s long-standing Witness Aid Services Unit that ensures crime victims, witnesses, and their families can access the services they need to rebuild their lives, while helping them navigate New York’s complex court system.

Staffed with licensed therapists, SSB provides free counseling and therapy services – ensuring access to mental health services for historically underserved communities – as well as safety assessments, relocation assistance, and much more, all offered in Spanish, Cantonese, and Mandarin. When a survivor comes to us, they are offered individual therapy at no cost and no time limit, with a maximum wait time of two weeks.

By supporting victims in the justice process, we increase the chances that we can hold people accountable for serious crimes. And by addressing the trauma of survivors, we help prevent future criminal justice involvement.

For the convenience of victims, the Survivor Services Bureau provides services in the downtown and Northern Manhattan offices and can be reached at 212-335-9040. Visitors can also access a full range of social services at our child-friendly, walk-in Justice Center.
