D.A. Bragg Announces Indictment Of Tiliek Thompson For Murdering Lovay Williams

October 8, 2026

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the indictment of TILIEK THOMPSON, 41, for murdering his girlfriend, 27-year-old Lovay Williams in September 2026. THOMPSON is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with Murder in the Second Degree among other charges.[1]

“This brutal alleged act of domestic violence devastated Lovay Williams’ family members and forever changed the life of her 7-year-old daughter,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Ms. Williams’ death is an utterly tragic reminder of the work we still need to do to combat intimate-partner and domestic violence. I want to assure survivors and their loved ones that we are deeply committed to addressing these crimes, and that we have the resources to help you. If you or someone you know is a survivor,  please call our Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Bureau at 212-335-4308.”

As alleged in court documents and statements made on the record in court, THOMPSON and Ms. Williams had been dating and living together in Washington Heights. On or about September 6, 2026, we allege that THOMPSON beat Ms. Williams, striking her in the face and body, and then strangled her to death. He then left her inside the apartment with her 7-year-old daughter, who was just feet away from her mother’s body when police performed a wellness check.

Assistant D.A.s Michael Perez and Anna Nagler are handling the prosecution of this case under the supervision of Executive Assistant D.A. Justin McNabney, with the assistance of Major Case Analyst Desi Marks.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. While violent crime falls to historic lows, felony assault  – 40% of which are domestic violence-related – remain the same. And domestic violence turns fatal all-too-often: between 2018 and 2022, 40% of women who were killed in New York State, were killed by an intimate partner.

The D.A.’s Office is committed to combatting intimate-partner and domestic violence by prosecuting these acts of violence, supporting survivors, and raising awareness. D.A. Bragg created the Office’s first Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Bureau, which united the Sex Crimes and Domestic Violence Bureaus to better prosecute these complex, often inter-related crimes, as well as better support survivors.

IPSVB works closely with the Office’s Survivor Services Bureau which ensures crime victims, witnesses, and their families can access the free, high-quality services they need to rebuild their lives, while helping them navigate New York’s complex court system. Staffed with licensed therapists, SSB provides free counseling and therapy services – ensuring access to mental health services for historically underserved communities – as well as safety assessments, relocation assistance, and much more.
