18-year-old faces attempted murder charge for subway train stabbing in Manhattan 
An 18-year-old man is facing an attempted murder charge for allegedly stabbing a 29-year-old woman inside a subway car in August, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Jr. announced Wednesday.

“As alleged, Brandon Balfour and Carlos Rivera committed separate, vicious attacks underground using weapons,” said District Attorney Bragg. “These horrifying acts of violence significantly injured two women, including one who needed life-saving surgery. Safety in our subways is paramount, and we will hold accountable those who bring weapons into our transit system and harm New Yorkers. I wish both victims full and speedy recoveries.”

“Alexis De La Cruz will serve prison time for stealing and forging checks from older adults. I hope today’s sentencing sends a message that we will prosecute those who steal hard-earned money from Manhattanites of any age,” said District Attorney Bragg. “I urge New Yorkers to use secure electronic payment methods, when possible, to protect themselves from check fraud.”
