The father of a man who fatally stabbed a local basketball player was sentenced for creating an Instagram profile to harass and intimidate witnesses against his son, prosecutors said.

A father was sentenced to prison on Monday for intimidating and tampering with individuals who had information about a fatal stabbing committed by his son in 2020.

“Steve Darbasie waged a relentless campaign of intimidation, using social media as a sword to both punish witnesses for speaking with police and attempt to prevent them from testifying about his son’s crime,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Honest testimony is the bedrock of our criminal legal system and when witnesses are harassed and intimidated, our ability to hold accountable those who commit violent acts suffers. We will not tolerate any such attempts, as I hope this trial conviction makes clear. My thoughts are with the loved ones of Terrell Wigfall as they continue to mourn his loss.”
Eleventh Piece of Art Appropriated by Nazis Recovered for Jewish Owners 
An eleventh piece of art which was appropriated by the Nazis during WWII and subsequently sold to finance the Nazi war effort. The artwork, belonging to the family of Fritz Grünbaum, Austrian Jews who were incarcerated in Dachau when the Nazis took over Austria with the Anschluss in 1938, was recovered the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr. and his Antiquities Trafficking Unit (ATU).

“Seated Nude Woman,” a drawing by the Austrian Expressionist Egon Schiele, was returned on Friday to the heirs of Fritz Grünbaum, a Jewish art collector and Viennese cabaret performer who was killed by the Nazis during the Holocaust.
Eleventh Piece Of Nazi-Looted Art Returned To Relatives Of Fritz Grünbaum 
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., and Special Agent in Charge Ivan J. Arvelo of Homeland Security Investigations, New York, today announced the return of an eleventh artwork to the family of Fritz Grünbaum, an Austrian-Jewish cabaret performer whose art collection was stolen by the Nazi regime. The drawing, Seated Nude Woman, front view by the Austrian artist Egon Schiele, was seized by the Office’s Antiquities Trafficking Unit in 2024.
