A construction company owner pled guilty Tuesday for his alleged role in a sweeping affordable housing fraud scheme that included forged payrolls, bribery and theft from clients and subcontractors, the Manhattan

“Thanks to technology and low cost, these dangerous weapons are becoming easier to make, and can be deadly if they fall into the wrong hands,” Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement. “We will continue to hold those accountable who purposefully evade our strict gun laws.”

“By corrupting the market, Lawrence Wecker and Joseph Guinta robbed legitimate MWBEs and smaller contractors of the chance to do business in New York,” said District Attorney Bragg. “These defendants engaged in multiple types of fraud and corruption, from committing insurance fraud to doling cash bribes. We will not tolerate fraud in the construction industry, particularly at the expense of New York’s workers.”
