A former Upper East Side school PTA treasurer, Marc Haynes, was handed a sentence yesterday of up to five years in prison for embezzling $185,000 from his own children's elementary school via illegal credit card transactions, said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. “Marc Haynes used money stolen from his own child’s elementary school PTA to bankroll luxury vacations, shopping sprees and even to pay court-ordered restitution from a prior conviction,” said Bragg in a statement on Tuesday.

A New Jersey man was indicted for fleeing an Inwood car crash that injured 20 people in January, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday. Jonathan Valentin, a 26-year-old from Maywood, was allegedly driving with a revoked license when he caused the devastating crash. While pulling out of a gas station, Valentin slammed into an Uber car on Broadway just north of 204th Street around 9 p.m. on Jan. 2, according to officials. The impact sent the Uber careening into a crowded restaurant, injuring 20 people, authorities said. Among the victims were an 11-year-old girl who needed her leg amputated due to her injuries and an one-year-old baby who suffered a broken foot.

Former PTA co-treasurer of Manhattan school sentenced for stealing PTA funds and spending it on lavish lifestyle: DA Bragg Click For More

A former co-treasurer of a parent teacher association at an Upper East Side school was sentenced to up to five years in prison for stealing money from the PTA through unauthorized credit card payments, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced Tuesday. Marc Haynes, 37, was convicted of one count of grand larceny in the third degree for stealing around $185,000 from the PTA of P.S. 267 East Side Elementary School, located on East 63rd Street. Haynes, of Manhattan, used the stolen funds to pay for luxury travel, shopping, and court-ordered restitution.

Driver Indicted in Inwood Restaurant Crash That Hurt 20, Including Girl Who Lost Leg Click For More

A man has been indicted in connection with a January car crash in upper Manhattan that injured 20 people — including an 11-year-old girl whose right leg was amputated as a result of her injuries. Jonathan Valentin was charged with ten counts of third-degree assault, as well as leaving the scene of an incident without reporting and other vehicle and traffic laws, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. The scary incident occurred around 9 p.m. at 204th Street and Broadway in Inwood on Jan. 2. The 26-year-old Valentin, of Maywood, New Jersey, sped out of a nearby gas station in his Audi and crashed into an Uber, according to court documents.
