“As alleged, Waldemar Alverio shot two people in Tompkins Square Park last month and put numerous lives in danger. Our parks should be a place where New Yorkers and tourists can relax without fearing for their safety,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Combatting gun violence remains my top priority and my Office will hold those who commit these serious acts of violence accountable. I hope the victims continue to heal from their wounds.”

“Women deserve to walk home without fearing that they are being followed or that they will be sexually assaulted,” said District Attorney Bragg. “As alleged, Vertell Dunham pushed past a young woman after trailing her to her building under the guise of needing medical care, before strangling her and attempting to sexually assault her. Thank you to our partners at the NYPD for their quick action arresting the defendant the next day – as he attempted to follow a college student into her residence hall.”

“As alleged, Christian Valdez callously threw his girlfriend into an oncoming train,” said District Attorney Bragg. “His alleged vicious actions caused serious and permanent injuries, including the amputation of both of the victim’s legs. We take all acts of violence against riders very seriously, and my thoughts are with the victim as she navigates this terrible and horrifying incident.”

“As alleged, Anthony Jordan viciously stabbed his longtime friend after showing up unannounced and with a weapon,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Although the investigation remains ongoing as to why Mr. Smith’s life was tragically taken, we will work diligently and tirelessly to ensure accountability in this case. My thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the victim as they continue grieving such an insurmountable loss.”

As alleged, Amira Hunter’s random and violent action left a subway musician in immense pain,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Anyone who threatens the safety of New Yorkers using our public transportation will be held accountable.
