Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the indictment of GERMAINE PARHAM, 33, for raping a 14-year-old girl at knifepoint in Stuyvesant Town–Peter Cooper Village in January 2026. PARHAM is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with six counts of Predatory Sexual Assault and six counts of Rape in the First Degree, among other charges.[1]
“This brutal, broad daylight attack horrified this community and the entire borough,” said District Attorney Bragg. “As alleged, Germaine Parham raped a young girl who was just trying to return home. My thoughts are with her as she recovers from this heinous, violent act. I urge anyone who has been sexually assaulted to contact our specially trained prosecutors and social workers by calling our Special Victims Division at 212-335-9373.”
As alleged in court documents and statements made on the record in court, at approximately 11:00 a.m. on January 29, 2026, PARHAM followed a woman into one of the buildings in the Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village complex. He entered the elevator – which was already occupied – after her and took it one floor before leaving the building.
As further alleged, approximately 7 minutes later, PARHAM entered a second building in the complex by following the 14-year-old after she unlocked the door. As she waited for the elevator, PARHAM grabbed her and dragged her into the adjacent stairwell. He struck her head against the railing, took her cellphone from her pocket, and threatened to kill her while brandishing a knife. He then raped her until a bystander entered the stairwell, when he left with her cell phone. He was arrested on February 3, 2026.
Assistant D.A.s Joseph Goldstein and Sean Brennan are handling the prosecution of the case under the supervision of Assistant D.A.s Kaitlyn Flatley (Deputy Chief of the Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Bureau) and Vanessa Puzio (Chief of the Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Bureau) and Shannon Lucey (Deputy Chief of the Special Victims Division) and Executive Assistant D.A. Justin McNabney (Chief of the Special Victims Division). Major Case Analyst Desi Marks and Investigative Analyst Katherine Burke also provided valuable assistance.
District Attorney Bragg thanked the NYPD, particularly Detective Steven Clarke from the Manhattan Special Victims Squad.
