D.A. Bragg: Five Charged With Firearm Conspiracy For Nine Shooting Incidents

February 10, 2026

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the indictment of five individuals for allegedly conspiring to possess firearms to commit nine shootings against rivals, including from several NYCHA developments. As alleged, one of the firearms was used in at least seven of the shootings.

The alleged conspiracy began in April 2024, with the shootings occurring between April 2024 and February 2025. One semi-automatic pistol and one revolver were recovered during the investigation.

All of the defendants are charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with one count of Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree. In total, the defendants are collectively charged with 36 counts, including various counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Assault in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. “As alleged, these defendants conspired to arm themselves and unleash brazen violence across Harlem, including committing numerous shootings,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Nearly all of the shootings were committed in or around NYCHA developments, putting countless lives at risk, including residents and bystanders. This kind of reckless and senseless violence has no place in our communities and those who engage in it will be brought to justice by our partners at the NYPD and our office’s prosecutors.”

“This case is the embodiment of targeted, data-driven precision policing,” said NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch. “In partnership with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, the detectives in the NYPD’s Gun Violence Suppression Division successfully investigated a conspiracy that led to the indictments of five individuals wanted in connection to nine separate shootings over the course of nearly one year. We will not allow criminals to terrorize our communities, and I thank the women and men of the NYPD, as well as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, for working tirelessly to keep New Yorkers safe.”

As alleged in court documents and statements made on the record, the defendants were based in NYCHA’s Taft Houses in East Harlem and had rivals in several other NYCHA developments, including in Grant Houses, Johnson Houses, Saint Nicholas Houses, Lehman Houses, and King Towers, which are located throughout Harlem. To assert their status, the individuals conspired to possess firearms to commit acts of violence, including several shootings. In at least seven of the shootings, it is alleged that the same gun was fired.

The indictment alleges nine different shooting incidents involving the named defendants, allegedly acting in concert, with the allegations as follows:

On April 10, 2024, at approximately 4:36 p.m., KEYWAN GOODE, 19, who was riding a scooter, went with JALEN CANTY, 19, who was on foot and armed with a loaded firearm, to a building in NYCHA’s Grant Houses, near West 125th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Once in front of the building, CANTY fired shots in the direction of the building.

On May 1, 2024, at approximately 8:38 p.m., ADRIAN MAYSONET, 20, GOODE and a co-conspirator entered the lobby of a building in Taft Houses, near East 112th Street and 5th Avenue. A few minutes later, GOODE got into a physical altercation with an individual. Following the altercation, the defendants exited the building and a co-conspirator fired multiple shots.

On July 13, 2024, at approximately 8:49 p.m., DAVID WOOLRIDGE, 19, AIDEN FREEMAN, 19, CANTY and GOODE met in the lobby of a building in Taft Houses, near East 112th Street and Madison Avenue, accompanied by co-conspirators. At approximately 8:54 p.m., the defendants and co-conspirators left the building and traveled to a building in Johnson Houses, near East 112th Street and Park Avenue. A co-conspirator fired several shots outside of the building, including one that pierced a resident’s window.

On August 19, 2024, at approximately 5:46 p.m., WOOLRIDGE, riding a scooter, went to a building in King Towers, near West 115th Street and 5th Avenue. After arriving outside the building, he dropped the scooter, crouched behind parked cars and fired multiple shots towards a group of individuals standing outside the entrance.

On August 30, 2024, at approximately 1:22 p.m., FREEMAN and GOODE walked into a courtyard in Saint Nicholas Houses, near West 127th Street and Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard. A few minutes later, GOODE fired shots towards a group of individuals in the courtyard and passed the gun to FREEMAN. FREEMAN then fired multiple shots towards the same group.

On September 12, 2024, at approximately 4:04 p.m., GOODE, FREEMAN, WOOLRIDGE, and a co-conspirator were by Lehman Houses, near East 107th Street and Park Avenue. From under the underpass, a co-conspirator fired shots towards an individual on the sidewalk. As the defendants fled the scene, GOODE fired two additional shots.

On January 12, 2025, at approximately 3:40 p.m., FREEMAN went to Marcus Garvey Park. While there, he met with several co-conspirators, and the group walked towards West 131st Street and Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard. At approximately 4:05 p.m., a co-conspirator fired shots at two individuals walking out of Saint Nicholas Houses. Two co-conspirators walked between parked cars and fired shots towards the same individuals.

On January 12, 2025, at approximately 4:10 p.m., as FREEMAN and the co-conspirators fled, FREEMAN allegedly fired shots towards a third individual. A co-conspirator also fired shots towards the same individual.

On February 20, 2025, at approximately 2:07 p.m., FREEMAN, GOODE and several co-conspirators walked north on Frederick Douglas Boulevard from West 132nd and West 133rd Streets. A few minutes later, FREEMAN and GOODE crouched behind parked cars by West 140th Street and Edgecombe Avenue. As an individual walked west on West 140th Street and turned onto Edgecombe Avenue, GOODE fired at least one shot across Edgecombe Avenue and handed the gun to FREEMAN. At approximately 2:15 p.m., a co-conspirator fired at least one shot up Edgecombe Avenue with a second gun and handed the gun to another co-conspirator, who fired in the same direction.

As further alleged, in furtherance of the conspiracy, the defendants coordinated the purchasing and exchange of firearms via text messages and group chats. They also posted videos on social media depicting themselves with the guns.

For example, on August 22, 2024, at approximately 2:52 a.m., GOODE and CANTY exchanged a series of text messages in which they discussed pooling money to purchase guns, including GOODE combining his money with WOOLRIDGE’s to purchase a gun the following morning.

In another example, on August 19, 2024, at approximately 6:29 p.m., following the shooting in King Towers, GOODE and CANTY exchanged text messages in which they discussed retaliating against rivals in response to a rival committing a shooting. In particular, CANTY sent messages containing alleged gang-related oaths, terminology, and codes of conduct, including in substance, “I solemnly swear In battle to never run or hide I solemnly swear when the time is right to bust my gun.”

Furthermore, on several dates, certain defendants searched the internet for terms associated with guns. On three occasions, CANTY used his cellphone to search terms such as, “3.2 revolver,” “9mm 30 round magazine fits what gun,” and “small revolver.”

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant D.A.s Paul Barker (Trial Bureau 70) and Millicent Kastenbaum (Trial Bureau 70), under the supervision of Assistant D.A.s Pierre Griffith (Chief of the Violent Criminal Enterprises Unit) and Christopher Prevost (Deputy Chief of the Trial Division) and Executive Assistant D.A.
