As alleged in court documents and statements made on the record in court, on July 1, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the 56-year-old man entered the station at West 125th Street and Saint Nicholas Avenue on his way home from work. While he was on the uptown platform, SOLIS approached him from behind and allegedly punched him in the back of the head.
As the victim turned around, SOLIS allegedly pulled out a serrated knife a d began stabbing him several times in the torso and face, wounding his neck, left shoulder and chest, among other areas. Eventually, an eyewitness intervened, helping to pull SOLIS off the victim and allowing him to escape. The victim was later transported to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
Good Samaritans, who witnessed the incident, also intervened and stopped SOLIS from fleeing until officers arrived and arrested SOLIS a few minutes later. Officers recovered a knife from SOLIS’ bag.
