NYC building super — once dubbed ‘lifeline for seniors’ — accused of stealing $350K from 100-year-old tenant 
Rosalind Hernandez, 56, was indicted Thursday for deceiving the elderly victim into giving her access to his life savings, which she then blew on clothes, lingerie, and other personal expenses for nearly a year starting in July 2023, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

Rosalind Hernandez, 56, who worked at a 53-unit co-op apartment where many residents were older adults, is accused of persuading the victim to grant her power of attorney and then using his checkbook and debit and credit cards to make hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of unauthorized purchases.

Christopher Brown, of Aquebogue on Long Island, was arrested at Manhattan’s Penn Station in November 2022 after authorities were alerted to a series of threatening Twitter posts he had made including, “Gonna ask a Priest if I should become a husband or shoot up a synagogue and die.”

“Rosalind Hernandez allegedly stole over $350,000 dollars from a 100-year-old man who entrusted her with his Power of Attorney. The victim relied on Ms. Hernandez for help, yet after she befriended him, she allegedly broke his trust and stole his hard-earned money for her personal greed,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Those who prey on vulnerable older adults will be held accountable. “Today Christopher Brown was sentenced to a significant prison term for arming himself with an illegal firearm as part of his plan to commit an act of terror targeting Manhattan’s Jewish community,” said District Attorney Bragg. “I know that the Jewish community in Manhattan is continuing to face rising antisemitism and violent threats, and I want everyone to know that we are using every tool possible in coordination with our law enforcement partners to keep them safe.”
