The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office announced the recent repatriation of antiquities to three countries, including 31 antiquities, some dating to the 6th century B.C.E., to the people of Italy; two 6th century C.E. Visigoth pendants to the people of Spain; and a 17th century C.E. Jesuit manuscript to the people of Hungary.

D.A. Bragg Announces Return Of Eight Antiquities To The People Of Peru 
“I am proud that this is the second repatriation we have had with Peru under my administration,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Many of the objects being repatriated today are from areas of Peru that have been repeatedly targeted by looters, but today we were able to undo some of the harm they have caused.”

“I am thrilled that, for the first time, we have been able to return a stolen artifact to the people of Paraguay,” said District Attorney Bragg. “I thank our team of prosecutors, investigators and analysts for unraveling this theft and returning this manuscript back to Paraguay’s National Archives.”

“The people of Nepal have fought for the return of these prized antiquities for decades, and I am thrilled that our long-term investigation has resulted in the return of these objects. These trafficking networks are extensive and complex, but we will continue our work to dismantle them and undo the harm they have created,” said District Attorney Bragg.
