D.A. Bragg, D.A. Clark, D.A. Gonzalez, A.G. James And Downstate Coalition For Crime Victims Host 40th Annual Vigil
“I am honored to take part in this vigil to remember loved ones lost to crime and commend the strength of survivors. This year marks 50 years since we launched our Survivor Services Bureau which centers the needs of survivors by providing connections to services that promote healing and safety,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Every day I am inspired by the persistent advocacy of crime survivors and their supporters working towards a safer city to spare others the trauma of being victimized. We will continue to strengthen community trust in our office to bring cases and keep Manhattan safe.”
D.A. Bragg Announces Sentencing Of Justin Soriano In Murder Of Pregnant Ex-Girlfriend In Harlem
“Justin Soriano will serve state prison time for viciously murdering Shanice Young on what should have been a joyous and memorable occasion and celebration,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Soriano committed this horrific shooting in front of four children, including Ms. Young’s own daughters, who helplessly watched their mother die right before their eyes. The trauma Ms. Young’s family and loved ones have experienced continues to be felt today and my thoughts remain with them as they continue to heal. I hope the significant sentence imposed today serves as a measure of justice for this tragic and abhorrent act of violence.”
D.A. Bragg Announces Indictment Of Alleged Check Forger Who Opened Bank Accounts Using Fake Passports From Four Different Countries
“As alleged, using aliases and forged passports supposedly issued by four different countries, Nfamoussa Sylla orchestrated a check fraud scheme that netted him more than $100,000,” said District Attorney Bragg. “This investigation is ongoing. This office’s strong tradition of economic crime investigations and prosecutions spans from identity theft to public corruption to counterterrorism and beyond. We will hold accountable those who commit fraud for personal gain.”
D.A. Bragg Announces Hate Crimes Indictment For Anti-Hispanic, Anti-LGBTQ+ Assault On Couple
“As alleged, Jamile Daniel viciously assaulted two men, who were out enjoying a walk together on a busy Midtown street,” said District Attorney Bragg. “This alleged conduct is repugnant and fueled by the defendant’s biases about the couple’s sexual orientation and heritage. New Yorkers of all backgrounds deserve to feel safe in Manhattan, and I wish the victims in this case a swift recovery.”
D.A. Bragg Announces Return Of Two Stone Sculptures To Cambodia
“I am pleased that we have been able to return more than 30 pieces to Cambodia in just the past several years. That is a testament to the outstanding work of our investigators and prosecutors, and I thank them for their continued efforts to dismantle these smuggling rings,” said District Attorney Bragg.
D.A. Bragg Calls On 3D-Printing Companies To Address Proliferation Of Illegal Firearms
“We are calling on companies that sell 3D-printers to work with us to stem the flow of dangerous weapons into our communities by implementing targeted, commonsense fixes. Too often, gun violence tragically takes innocent lives and tears at the fabric of our communities. Over the past several years, the number of illegal, 3D-printed firearms and ghost guns has increased significantly. We have an aggressive and holistic approach to combatting gun violence alongside our law enforcement partners but we cannot do it alone. We are hopeful that we can partner with these companies and make a meaningful impact on public safety,” said District Attorney Bragg.
