Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the sentencing of Rasheen Davis, 40, to 50 years-to-life for attacking a woman from behind as she walked in Harlem, brutally beating her until she was unconscious, and attempting to rape her.
Rasheen Davis, 40, was found guilty of attempted murder, assault, robbery, and attempted rape on Feb. 28 in connection to the attack. He was sentenced to 50 years to life in a state prison on April 20.
A Manhattan judge Thursday threw the book at a serial convict for a horrific attempted rape that left a woman unconscious and naked on a Harlem street — calling the attack “one of the most inhumane acts of violence” he’d seen before handing down the 50-years-to-life sentence.
Con man Anthony Burges, 54, has pled guilty to defrauding small businesses across the country out of nearly $1.4 million.
“At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Anthony Burges preyed on business owners by falsely promising to help them manage costs or reduce their payments on existing debt,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Small businesses from across New York City and the country were forced to close, reduce capacity, or declare bankruptcy as a result of this heartless scheme. My Office will continue to root out fraud in all its forms, which unfortunately spread due to the financial pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, including PPP and unemployment scams.”
