“Elvis Nina Pichardo terrified our community when he attacked three different people enjoying a warm summer day in Inwood Hill Park in the span of less than one hour,” said District Attorney Bragg. “As the sentence today makes clear, this type of repugnant conduct will not be tolerated.”
A Bronx man will spend 20 years behind bars for sexually assaulting three people in Inwood Hill Park in 2021, according to the Manhattan District Attorney.
Cuenca (Pablo Israel Ortega Cuenca), male, 33, in New York, obtained several thousands of dollars of unlawful gain in legal fees by posing as an immigration lawyer. On January 11, New York City Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced the indictment against Cuenca with [sic] counts of immigrant assistance services in the first degree, two counts of grand larceny in the third degree and one count of scheme to defraud in the first degree in court.
Pablo Israel Ortega Cuenca, male, 33, who was posing as an immigration lawyer to submit asylum application on behalf of victims, submitted fake applications, or even nothing at all after receiving payments. He defrauded up to 10 thousand dollars in legal fees from multiple victims and was indicted by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on the 11th. Chinese immigration lawyer reminded citizens to request business cards, signed contracts as well as receipts issued by the legal office when making payment, to ensure that the party is a legitimate attorney.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is taking action against scammers posing as immigration lawyers and taking advantage of one of New York City’s most vulnerable populations: asylum seekers.
