It’s not often that a career prosecutor becomes the focal point of a campaign for governor. But in a political cycle that offered more heat than light on crime and public safety, Republican Lee Zeldin decided to make me — the duly-elected Manhattan district attorney who won with 83% of the vote just one year ago — the centerpiece of his statewide campaign.
“As alleged, O.E.D. and their associates terrorized the City’s streets by committing orchestrated and violent gunpoint robberies,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Everybody has a right to walk safely through their neighborhood or to their home.”
A man who stabbed an employee in a Lower East Side laundromat last year was sentenced to jail time, prosecutors announced Thursday.
“Dwight Williams attacked a fellow New Yorker who was doing his job. We want everyone to feel at home in this borough and we will hold accountable anyone who carries out disturbing attacks like this one,” said District Attorney Bragg.
