A 62-year-old man has been indicted on murder charges for the death of a teenager in East Harlem, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said on Thursday.
“Saul Sanchez’s alleged conduct caused the senseless death of a 17-year-old boy and a horrific tragedy for that boy’s loved ones. I want to be clear that we have no tolerance for violence on our streets or in our neighborhoods, and will continue to work closely with our law enforcement partners to hold people accountable when they commit this type of violence,” said District Attorney Bragg.
On Friday, Manhattan D.A. Alvin L. Bragg Jr. announced the sentencing of 20-year-old Zymir Humphrey for murdering 21-year-old Brandon Atkinson on May 15, 2022, on Third Street and Avenue D. That shooting set in motion a series of retaliatory deadly shootings.
“Joshua Zinberg allegedly slashed an international tourist who was walking on the Upper West Side in an unprovoked and brazen daylight attack. When tourists visit New York, they should not have to fear for their safety,” said D.A. Bragg. “We will continue to prosecute those who commit random acts of violence on the streets of Manhattan. I hope the victim continues to heal from this horrifying assault.”
A 20-year-old gang member was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison Friday for a Lower East Side murder a prosecutor said sparked off a chain of violence that resulted in two more grisly deaths and ruined multiple lives “based on nothing.”
