A man was indicted for severely sexually, physically, and psychologically abusing a teenage girl for more than a year, prosecutors announced on Tuesday.
A man pleaded guilty on Tuesday to shoving an 85-year-old man onto subway tracks in Manhattan last year, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
“As alleged, Rayshawn Weir kept this child in a perpetual state of fear and pain over the course of 15 months,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Only when bystanders intervened as he allegedly attempted to strangle her at the Port Authority bus station did this horrific abuse come to an end. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Jr., Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine and City Councilmember Keith Powers wrote an op-ed in the New York Daily News calling on the New York City Council to pass legislation that will make it easier to get sidewalk sheds down in a timely fashion, while simultaneously making sure that the sheds that are up, are safer and less disruptive.
