Thirteen alleged members of a Harlem gang have been indicted for months of violence that included nine shootings, a fatal assault on a 16-year-old and a brazen slashing inside the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced Wednesday.

“The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts takes seriously and responds to all restitution claims for works in our collection,” said VMFA’s Director and CEO Alex Nyerges. “Based on the evidence shown to VMFA, we are convinced that we do not have clear title for these reliefs. We are therefore happy to be working with the Antiquities Trafficking Unit of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office to return all of the polychrome terracotta fragments in question to Türkiye.”

Accused members of a Harlem street gang were behind the fatal assault of a teenage boy, a litany of shootings and other concerted acts of violence on the city’s streets throughout 2024, Manhattan prosecutors charged Wednesday.
