“Harry Ruiz has always maintained his innocence,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Our thorough reinvestigation included dozens of witness interviews and in-depth document review, which uncovered new evidence that significantly undermines the case presented at trial in 1994. While Mr. Ruiz has already served 25 years in prison, his name deserves to be permanently cleared.”
“As alleged, Shaqueal Parker committed a brazen shooting that left a dedicated security guard, who was doing his job protecting residents, with significant physical injuries,” said District Attorney Bragg. “This attack unfolded on a crowded Midtown street, putting countless New Yorkers at risk of being harmed. Thankfully, the shooting was nonfatal, and I wish the victim a full recovery as he continues to heal.”
A Harlem grandmother’s irate ex fatally shot her inside the bathroom of her daughter’s home where she’d fled after he beat and threatened to kill her for rebuffing his sexual advances, prosecutors allege in new information revealed about the horrific crime.
“A jury has convicted Orsen Reyes of carrying out a vicious, unprovoked attack against a stranger that caused significant injuries and could have easily been fatal,” said District Attorney Bragg. “The conviction holds him accountable for this prolonged act of violence and reaffirms our commitment to protecting New Yorkers navigating our transit system. I thank the jury for its careful consideration of the case.”
Eliud Garcia, 50, is accused of killing 47-year-old Basilisa Negron on Dec. 23, 2025, after months of alleged abuse, stalking and harassment, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
