A former chief information officer for New York City’s Independent Budget Office was indicted after allegedly returning to the agency’s offices after his termination and downloading more than 4,000 files containing sensitive government data, prosecutors said.
NEW YORK, N.Y. (PIX11) — A Bronx man has been indicted for allegedly defrauding multiple homeless shelter residents in an apartment voucher and credit card theft scheme, said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr.
A Brooklyn man was indicted for allegedly running a violent sex trafficking operation for over a decade.
“IT professionals working for city agencies are charged with safeguarding the City’s sensitive information and files. Instead, we allege, the former head of IT for the Independent Budget Office downloaded thousands of files to a USB drive that he took home,” said District Attorney Bragg. “I thank DOI for its ongoing partnership in rooting out fraud and corruption in our city.”
“For more than a decade, Curtis Brown profited from this extremely controlling, coercive, and violent operation,” said District Attorney Bragg. “With explicit rules and brutal punishments for perceived slights, he forcibly trafficked at least two women, including his wife, the mother of his child. After his arrest, he threatened to kill her if she testified, on top of committing perjury by repeatedly lying about his actions. Thank you to the members of the jury for their careful consideration of this very difficult case, and to the brave survivors who took the stand to secure justice for his years of abuse.”
