Two New York men were sentenced last week in connection with a 2016 shooting in Harlem that resulted in the victim’s fatal seizure two years later, authorities said.
“Chester Taylor and Darius Hastings shot and killed a young Harlemite with great ambitions, talent and a bright future,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Although Pressie Taylor Jr. miraculously survived the shooting in its initial aftermath, his life was forever changed. He made a valiant attempt at resuming his life and music career, but unfortunately, he succumbed to the effects of his serious injuries, depriving his family and community of a promising star. Thanks to the jury’s careful review of the evidence, both defendants were found to be responsible for his murder, and I hope that the sentences imposed today bring the victim’s family some form of peace.”
Two men were imprisoned Friday in New York State Supreme Court for fatally shooting a Harlem rapper, A$AP Press, in the head back in 2016.
New York and federal authorities handed back 12 looted antiquities valued at $9 million to Lebanon on Thursday, including three objects removed from the Metropolitan Museum of Art last year during a flurry of multimillion-dollar seizures there.
Nine of the objects were recovered pursuant to an ongoing criminal investigation into Georges LOTFI, a prolific antiquities trafficker who is the subject of an international arrest warrant. The 12 items were returned during a repatriation ceremony attended by Lebanon’s Consul General in New York, Ambassador Abir Taha Audi, and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (“HSI”) Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge Thomas Acocella.
