A drunk driver who ran a stop sign and drove into a Manhattan park on the 4th of July, killing four people, was arraigned on an indictment Thursday.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office charged Michael Lauchlan with grand larceny in the third and fourth degrees and two counts of first degree scheme to defraud using his allegedly “sham” cryptocurrency asset recovery business, Coin Dispute Network. Prosecutors claim Lauchlan, under a pseudonym, falsely told clients he could locate their crypto funds and could return them for a fee payable in the token ETH.
“This alleged act tragically cut the lives of Lucille Pinkney, Herman Pinkney, Emily Ruiz, and Ana Morel short and severely injured seven others,” District Attorney Alvin Bragg said. “My thoughts are with the families of those whose lives were lost, the injured victims, and the tight-knit community, all of whom are reeling from the effects of this horrifying and senseless tragedy.”
