An Upper West Side doorman has confessed to stealing almost half a million dollars from an elderly couple who lived at his building, according to a press release from the office of the Manhattan D.A.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — An Upper West Side doorman has pleaded guilty to stealing $477,685 from a retired New York City schoolteacher and her husband who lived in the building where he worked, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said.
“As alleged, these defendants conspired to use Coin Dispute Network to defraud dozens of people desperate to retrieve their cryptocurrency, and used lies and deception to steal from nine New Yorkers,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Our Investigation Division and its Cyber Crime Bureau follow the money, whether that means cold hard cash or the rapidly evolving world of cryptocurrency.
