D.A. Bragg assured New Yorkers in a statement that acts of violence like this are “abhorrent” and justice will be served. “I hope she continues to recover from this terrifying assault, and I want to assure New Yorkers that we will ensure accountability for those who commit such acts of violence.”

Christopher Prevost, deputy chief of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Trial Division, and Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Bonnie Seok told the AmNews their efforts feel encouraging because Manhattan shootings dipped by 33% year-to-date as of June 8. The prosecutors credit both proactive and reactive enforcement, as well as addressing underlying causes.

The prosecution is recommending 25 years to life for the attempted murder charge, and 20 years for robbery with five years probation. After Wednesday’s arraignment, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg called the alleged attack abhorrent.
