UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A 61-year-old man has been indicted on multiple felony charges after prosecutors say he drove drunk and slammed into pedestrians and parked vehicles on the Upper West Side in May, killing two men and injuring three others.
The driver accused of speeding onto an Amsterdam Avenue sidewalk in May, killing two men and injuring three others, has been indicted on a raft of felony charges — including five counts of aggravated vehicular homicide.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr. announced July 14 that a Bronx man, Juan Valoy, 47, pleaded guilty to stealing around $25,000 from three victims through an apartment rental scam. He said Valoy pleaded guilty in New York State Supreme Court to one count of grand larceny in the third degree. Under the terms of his plea, Bragg said he is expected to be sentenced on Sept. 9, to a promised sentence of two to four years in State prison.
A Bronx man pleaded guilty Tuesday to stealing money from people desperately seeking apartments, 11 years after he was convicted of the exact same crime.
“I am pleased that we have now been able to return more than 50 antiquities back to Mexico. We believe that the trafficking networks we have identified are responsible for other pieces looted throughout Mexico, and our work continues,” said District Attorney Bragg.
