“Italy’s rich cultural history is on full display with these stunning objects being returned today. We are proud to have returned hundreds of objects to the people of Italy in just the past few months, which is emblematic of the strong collaboration with have with our law enforcement partners at home and abroad,” said District Attorney Bragg.

“We are proud to join our law enforcement and government partners in this moment. It is impossible to put a value on the cultural and historical significance of looted antiquities and I thank our talented team of attorneys and investigators who are continuing their incredible work of returning these objects to where they rightfully belong,” said District Attorney Bragg.  

“These stunningly preserved artifacts are just a few of the many antiquities looted from the Iraq Museum. Thanks to the thoroughness of our investigators and prosecutors, we discovered that these pieces were for sale online without the proper documentation. We are pleased that they are finally returning home to the museum where they rightfully belong,” said District Attorney Bragg.  

“This case shows the lengths traffickers and looters will go to steal these priceless pieces of cultural and historical heritage,” said District Attorney Bragg. “We are proud to partner with our HSI law enforcement partners to return 17 objects to the people of Mexico in just the past two years alone and look forward to continuing this work together.”

“We will continue to pursue full accountability against Mr. Kapoor and his co-conspirators, who showed a blatant disregard for the cultural and historic significant of these antiquities,” said District Attorney Bragg.
