“Selling illegal weapons in Manhattan is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The scourge of gun violence takes a devastating toll on our communities, and I have met with far too many heartbroken families who have lost a loved one because of illegal firearms. While gun violence continues to trend downward in Manhattan, there is a lot more work to do, and we will continue to partner with the NYPD to hold people accountable who commit this type of dangerous conduct.  I thank the investigators, prosecutors and detectives who worked collaboratively to get these weapons off our streets,” said District Attorney Bragg.

“Tyreke Colon threatened the safety of our neighborhoods by bringing dangerous firearms into the City up the iron pipeline,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Thankfully, the work of the detectives and prosecutors in this investigation prevented these guns from falling into the wrong hands. Our message is simple: if you illegally sell guns in Manhattan, there will be serious consequences.” 

“Zaquan Gaillard funneled firearms into our city, which could have fallen into the wrong hands had it not been for the brave work of undercover detectives,” said District Attorney Bragg. “It is far too easy to traffic guns through the iron pipeline. We will continue to aggressively prosecute traffickers, and I urge the federal government to take comprehensive action to cutdown on the availability and flow of firearms into our communities.”    

“This is our second case this week against a gun trafficker from North Carolina, which once again puts a direct spotlight on how the iron pipeline is undermining public safety in New York City,” said District Attorney Bragg.

Tyreke Colon allegedly sold 36 guns worth over $40,000 to an undercover NYPD Officer over several months.
