“Kimond Cyrus allegedly murdered Sueng Chul Choi in a brutal, chilling act of violence,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Bodegas are essential threads woven throughout our Manhattan communities. We mourn the tragic loss of Mr. Choi and will continue to use every tool at our disposal to keep our hardworking bodega and deli workers safe.”
“Daryl Campbell was convicted by his peers of killing a man and shooting three others during a tragic and deadly confrontation in a packed New York City music venue,” said District Attorney Bragg. “In addition to seriously injuring his rival and killing his rival’s bodyguard, Mr. Campbell shot innocent bystanders and put hundreds of other lives at risk. Beyond the pain that still lives with Mr. McPhatter’s loved ones, every death tears at the fabric of our city and communities. We will vigorously prosecute anyone who commits this type of deadly violence.”
“Deliveristas are essential workers who keep our city running. They should not have to fear for their lives while on the job. We will not tolerate this type of senseless gun violence against hardworking New Yorkers, and I thank our prosecutors for achieving this strong conviction. I know that there are still family and friends mourning the loss of Mr. Villalva Vitinio and I join with them in honoring his memory,” said District Attorney Bragg.
“White collar investigations can and do help us identify those who commit violent crimes,” said District Attorney Bragg. “As alleged, these two individuals perpetrated a scheme that victimized people who rely on the mail to deliver what’s rightfully theirs. Manhattanites should not have to worry that government employees will use their position to take advantage of them. By carefully investigating this scheme, we developed evidence that led to an arrest in a near-fatal shooting. I thank our partners at the USPS Inspector General’s Office for their work to protect the integrity of our mail system.”
“As alleged, these defendants helped fuel the fentanyl crisis engulfing our city and brought dangerous firearms into our communities,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Furthermore, all of the conduct in this indictment was occurring right where thousands of Manhattanites call home. Public housing residents deserve the same safety and security as everyone else, and we will crackdown on anyone who uses these complexes as a base for dangerous criminal activity.”
