“The horrific shooting of Tykeem Berry so close to his young daughter shocked the Inwood community,” said District Attorney Bragg. “As alleged, Joseph Morros opened fire just outside of a busy bodega, putting the lives of his fellow New Yorkers at risk, and killing Mr. Berry. The immense toll of this shooting exemplifies why combatting gun violence and reducing the number of illegal guns on our streets remains my top priority.” 

“Gun violence continues to take a toll on our city,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Residents of public housing deserve the same safety and security as everyone else and we will not tolerate this type of violence where families live and socialize.”

“Times Square is no place for firearms,” said District Attorney Bragg. “As alleged, Brian Melecio brought a loaded gun to a popular place to eat, drink, and have fun – putting employees and all of his fellow patrons in danger. After getting kicked out, we allege he not only pistol-whipped a street vendor, but punched a police officer. We do not tolerate illegal guns or violence against police officers.”

“As alleged, O.E.D. and their associates terrorized the City’s streets by committing orchestrated and violent gunpoint robberies,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Everybody has a right to walk safely through their neighborhood or to their home.”

“This was a non-sensical and horrific execution-style murder of a father of two,” said District Attorney Bragg. “We will continue to use every lever possible to prevent gun violence. I thank our prosecutors who share the unwavering commitment to holding those responsible for these crimes fully accountable for their actions.”
