D.A. Bragg Announces Indictment Of Man For Attempted Murder Of Former Boss On The Upper West Side

“As alleged, Eduardo Diaz brutally targeted, shot and seriously injured his former employer in a broad daylight attack on a busy city street,” said District Attorney Bragg. “This alleged conduct not only endangered the life of the victim, but also brazenly disregarded the safety of Manhattanites both in the community and surrounding area – causing rippling effects for many New Yorkers as Mr. Diaz fled into the subway system with a firearm. My Office will continue to work in tandem with our law enforcement partners to combat gun violence and I wish the victim a swift recovery.”

“As alleged, Joseph Moore purposely sold dangerous, illegal firearms to an undercover officer on several occasions,” said District Attorney Bragg. “The guns Moore allegedly sold had a significant risk of causing harm to fellow Manhattanites, and I am thankful that one of the NYPD’s brave undercover officers was able to prevent the weapons from making it onto our city’s streets. Protecting Manhattan’s communities from gun violence remains my top priority and we will continue using all the tools at our disposal to reduce gun violence.”

“Zachery Bryant will serve a significant prison term for shooting two hardworking New Yorkers in a callous attack that tragically took Mario Gonzalez Alcantara ’s life,” said District Attorney Bragg. “To Mr. Gonzalez Alcantara ’s family and loved ones, he was a loving son, brother, cousin, friend and partner, and I send my deepest condolences to them as they continue to grieve their loss. I hope that the outcome of this case can provide another step towards healing for both families affected by this shooting.”

“These groups have allegedly committed fatal and horrific gun violence in Inwood and Washington Heights over the past six years,” said District Attorney Bragg. “I want to be very clear: if you traffic illegal firearms into Manhattan, or use guns to commit violence against fellow Manhattanites, you will be held accountable. We will not accept this type of conduct, which tears at the fabric of our communities. I will continue to work in close coordination with all of our law enforcement partners to address the continued scourge of gun violence and ensure everyone in the borough can live in the safe neighborhood that they deserve.”
