“Alejandro Piedra has been sentenced to a state prison term for murdering Clemson Cockfield and brutally stabbing two other New Yorkers,” said District Attorney Bragg. “This horrific violence unfolded on busy East Village streets, leaving a family in mourning and significantly harming the two survivors. We hope this outcome brings a measure of justice to the survivors, who continue to navigate the reeling effects of the attack. My thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of Mr. Cockfield as they continue to mourn his loss.”

“Carlos Santiago allegedly approached a Police Officer with a large knife after threatening employees at a grocery store,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Members of the NYPD put their lives on the line every day to protect New Yorkers, and we will prosecute those who jeopardize their safety.”

“A jury of his peers determined that Anthony Rosa’s reckless disregard for the risk of his drug use caused the death of his two-year-old son, Charlie,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Rosa was fully aware of the hazards and knew that under ACS supervision, he was not allowed to be alone with his son. The single day Rosa and Charlie were alone – while Rosa’s wife gave birth to the brother Charlie will never meet – Charlie ingested enough fentanyl to kill an adult. I thank my office’s Child Abuse Bureau for expertly trying this case.”

“Hugo Morales was lying on a park bench one summer morning on Pier 84 when Luis Gil fatally stabbed him without provocation, tragically cutting his life short,” said District Attorney Bragg. “While nothing can bring Mr. Morales back, I hope this guilty plea and lengthy prison sentence can serve as a measure of comfort and closure to his loved ones who continue to mourn his loss.”

“Santiago Ajsac Sirin was a hardworking delivery man in Manhattan before these defendants cut his life short by brutally attacking him,” said District Attorney Bragg. “My heart goes out to Mr. Ajsac’s loved ones who are mourning his loss.”
