“Alijo Mrkulic brutally murdered Christoper Rodriguez, who kindly opened his home to him during a time of need during a vulnerable moment for our city,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Mrkulic repaid that generosity with a depraved act of violence, devastating Mr. Rodriguez’s family and loved ones. In the aftermath of the murder, Mrkulic escalated violence by igniting a fire that endangered countless residents and viciously attacking police officers, who continue to suffer from their significant injuries. My thoughts remain with Mr. Rodriguez’s family and the brave NYPD officers, and I hope they feel justice knowing the defendant has been held accountable.”

Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg, Jr., said: “A jury determined that Randy Santos knowingly and purposefully murdered four men with a metal bar in the span of less than 30 minutes. They were strangers to him, and simply happened to be sleeping on Chinatown sidewalks that horrific night. Two additional victims were injured in Santos’s brutal attacks. Now, he has been held accountable for his crimes. I thank my office’s prosecutors for ensuring justice for Florencio Moran, Nazario Vásquez Villegas, Anthony Manson and Chuen Kok, as well as the two other men who, thankfully, survived.”

“Michael Patterson allegedly committed a series of arsons on Manhattan’s public streets,” said District Attorney Bragg. “These dangerous fires extensively damaged public and private property, including five vehicles, and it is fortunate that no one was injured. In Manhattan, we take extremely seriously conduct that endangers our communities – whether to people or to property.”

“We are resolute in our commitment to solving homicides and providing justice to victims and their families, no matter how long it takes,” said District Attorney Bragg. “Thirty years after strangling Sarah Roberts and her daughter Sharon, Larry Atkinson stands convicted by a jury of two counts of murder and will serve decades in prison. Thanks to the skill of our prosecutors and the dogged work of our partners at OCME and the NYPD, there is finally closure for this horrific crime.”
